The first round of the 2005 UK ROTAX Max Challenge Qualifying Series got underway on Sunday the 26th June.
The entry this year is poorer than last year with a grid of only 12 drivers.
Suprisingly we did not manage much better than 9th place in any of the heats and even worse in the finals.

We found the MOJO tyres being used this year to be only slightly slower the the VEGA tyres, which considering it was
everyones first run on the MOJO's was about what you would expect.

We were off the pace slightly all day and any set-up changes only made matters worse, which was very disappointing,
since Whilton Mill is a circuit that Jamie and Scott both enjoy.

In the first final we suffered from a deflating tyre due to a bead retainer that was not tight enough to hold it's seal.

The second final was severely hampered by the carburation being too lean. and for all Jamie tried he could do
better than nurse the kart around the 10 laps of the final without being lapped.
During our post race checks it also came to light that the power-valve blade had come loose on the shaft connecting
it to the bellows, so it was not even opening half way, this reduced the engine power to that of a mini-max (-10hp at least).

It is always good to find what has gone wrong, as it takes a load of of your mind about why we lost so much pace.
This fault will not hamper our perfomance a second time.
